How Often Should You Rotate Your Tires?

How often should you rotate your tires? At Chevyland in Shreveport, we get asked this question a lot, especially for new car owners. Typically, between 5,000 to 8,000 miles is when to rotate your tires. You’ll still want to refer back to your owner’s manual for the correct interval. Read on below to see what our service team has to say about how to rotate your tires!

Rotating Tires on FWD and RWD Vehicles

So how many miles to rotate tires? Well, that can depend on what type of configuration of your vehicle you have. If you have front-wheel and rear-wheel drive then the engine simply sends power there. Front-wheel drive is sent to the front tires, and rear-wheel drive is sent to the rear tires. But how often should you rotate your tires? Read the following for the cadence and a few tips:

  • Every 5,000 to 7,000miles is when to rotate tires for FWD or RWD vehicles.
  • If you decide not to schedule a service appointment with us near Bossier City for your FWD tire rotation and decide to do it at home, you should know to flip sides when moving the rear tires. When moving the front tires to the back, you’ll keep them on the same side. For RWD tire rotation, you will invert the process.

AWD Tire Rotation Tips

Those who drive all-wheel drive Chevrolet models in Greenwood will have a different tire rotation cadence than FWD or RWD vehicles. The engine sends power to every wheel when AWD is engaged, therefore, tire rotations will need to be completed in closer intervals in a specific way. We recommend that every 3,000 to 5,000 is when to rotate tires in AWD models. Here are a few tips to follow when rotating AWD tires at home:

  1. The left rear goes to the right front spot.
  2. The right rear goes to the left front spot.
  3. The right front goes to the left rear spot.
  4. The left front goes to the right rear spot.
