It’s no secret that the Chevy Silverado is a versatile truck that has many different configurations to choose from. We have the Chevy Silverado 1500 for sale here at Chevyland in a variety of trim levels, cab styles, bed sizes, and powertrain options so shoppers can find the ideal version for their needs. But beyond all of that, there are even more ways for you to customize this reliable pickup to suit your needs.

Packages give you another way to make the Silverado your own. These are bundles of features that can be added to your truck. What packages are available varies from trim to trim, and sometimes packages come standard on higher-level trims but are optional on more basic trim levels. These packages can affect anything from the truck’s appearance to its tech features to its capability. Today, we’re going to be taking a look at the wide range of packages available on the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500.

Appearance Packages

Do you want to make your Chevy stand out from the crowd with a unique look? Then check out the appearance packages available for the 2023 Silverado 1500. The Chrome Package is an option on the WT and LT trims. It adds shiny chrome recovery hooks and a polished exhaust tip, giving your work truck a little extra class.

The Dark Essentials Package is available on all of the Silverado’s trim levels, from the base WT all the way up to the top-tier High Country. This package replaces the standard badges, bowtie logos, and tailgate decal lettering with black versions, which go well with just about any paint color. If your truck has the powerful 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 or the Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel I-6 engine under the hood, then you’ll also get black engine badges.

On the Custom and Custom Trail Boss trims, you can take this style to the next level with the TurboMax Blackout Package. This comes with all of the features in the Dark Essentials Package, plus a few extra touches. It adds four-inch black round assist steps and 20-inch High Gloss Black wheels, which go even further in order to tie the look together.

Convenience Packages

Appearance is nice, but features that make the truck more comfortable and convenient to use can make your driving experience even better. The LT, RST, and LT Trail Boss trims come standard with the Convenience Package, which includes features like dual-zone automatic climate control, a 10-way power-adjustable heated driver’s seat, a heated steering wheel, and USB ports in the second row. If you want to add even more features to these trims, you can get the available Convenience Package II. With this bundle of extras, you’ll get a universal home remote and a rear sliding power window. You’ll also get tech that makes trailering easier, like a trailer brake controller, Hitch Guidance with Hitch View, and the Chevy trailering app.

The ZR2, LTZ, and High Country trims come standard with plenty of useful features, but they can be enhanced further with top-tier packages. For example, the Technology Package can be added to any of these trims. This package includes a rear camera mirror that lets you switch between the traditional rearview mirror and a wider camera view that can’t be blocked by people or cargo in front of the back window. It also gives you a multi-color 15-inch Head-Up display that projects information right onto the lower portion of the windshield so you can keep your eyes on the road.

When you add this package to the ZR2 trim, it includes a power tilt and telescoping steering column, which already comes standard on the LTZ and High Country trims. On the LTZ trim, it adds a bed view camera, which is standard on the ZR2 and High Country trims. For the High Country trim, the package includes Enhanced Automatic Emergency and Adaptive Cruise Control.

Storage Packages

Not everything can handle being thrown into the open cargo bed. If you want some extra interior storage space, you can add the Rear Seat with Storage Package to the WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, LT Trail Boss, and RST trims. It comes standard on the ZR2, LTZ, and High Country trims. This package features a full-length bench seat in the back with seatback storage on the right and left sides and a center fold-out armrest with two cupholders in the middle. Under the seats, there’s a storage compartment that spans the full width of the cab, giving you a place to keep cargo out of sight.

Safety Packages

All trims of the 2023 Silverado 1500 come standard with the Chevy Safety Assist Package of driver-assistance features. These include Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, Following Distance Indicator, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, and IntelliBeam automatic high-beam headlights. Higher trim levels add even more features to help keep you safe on the road. If you want to get a higher level of safety without upgrading to the LTZ or High Country, you can add the Safety Package to the LT, RST, or LT Trail Boss trim.

The Safety Package includes HD Surround Vision, which uses multiple camera angles to let you keep track of the entire area around the truck when parking in a tight space or backing up to hitch up to a trailer. Speaking of trailers, this package also adds trailer camera provisions and Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert. Extra sensors are added to the back of the truck, giving you Rear Cross Traffic Alert Braking and Rear Pedestrian Alert. Rear Park Assist detects nearby objects while you’re backing up at low speeds and alerts you if you’re getting too close. Perimeter lighting gives you more visibility around the exterior of your truck at night. Finally, the Safety Alert Seat adds another layer of warnings to the visual and audible alerts that let you know when danger is imminent. The high-tech seat vibrates in different areas depending on where the potential emergency is coming from, so you’ll know immediately whether you should look right or left.

Performance Packages

Some of the most desirable packages are the ones that affect your truck’s performance. They impact where you can go and how much you can do. The Trailering Package comes standard on all trims except the base WT, where it’s an optional add-on. This package features a two-inch receiver hitch and a seven-wire electrical harness with four and seven-pin sealed connectors to sync the trailer’s light and brakes with your truck. It also adds Hitch Guidance, which provides guidelines for the truck’s rear camera to make hitching up easier.

For an upgraded towing experience, the Max Trailering Package is available on the LT, RST, LTZ, and High Country trims. This package, found on the lot of most Chevy dealers, is required to unlock the 2023 Silverado 1500’s maximum available trailering capacity. It gives you an automatic locking rear differential for better traction in tricky situations, an enhanced cooling radiator to keep your engine from overheating, and a trailer brake controller for added safety and control. In order to support the added weight, you’ll also get the Handling/Trailering Suspension Package, revised shock tuning, and heavier-duty rear springs.

If you’re not getting a dedicated off-road trim like the ZR2 but still want to be able to handle some trails, you can add the Z71 Off-Road and Protection Package to the LT, RST, LTZ, and High Country trims. This package includes an off-road-tuned suspension with Rancho twin-tube shocks, skid plates to protect underbody components, and hill descent control to help you handle steep grades. A heavy-duty air filter prevents dirt from getting into the engine, and all-weather floor liners make it easy to clean out the muck that you track in on your shoes. This package also includes a set of all-terrain tires and a Chevytec spray-on bedliner.
